Minister Preaches A Week After Church Massacre

Sutherland Service

An emotional day in Sutherland Springs as  members of the First Baptist Church gathered for  the first time since a gunman entered their church and killed 26  people.  Church Pastor Frank Pomeroy said during today's service at a  local baseball field that evil was responsible for last week's  shootings.  Pomeroy said he wanted to ensure everyone who walked in to  the service "knows that those who died lived for their Lord and  savior."  Pomeroy's voice cracked as he paused and described the victims  as "my best friends and my daughter."  The crowd of worshipers then  stood, clapped and raised their hands toward heaven.Among those attending today's emotional service was Texas Senator  John Cornyn, who said he would propose changes to firearm background  checks and the process of obtaining a firearm.  The service was moved  from a community center to a local baseball field to accommodate the  large number of attendees.
