U.S. Senator John Cornyn is eying changes in background checks and how people obtain firearms. The Texas Republican attended a service of the First Baptist Church today on a local baseball field in Sutherland Springs, Texas. The service was held a week after a gunman shot and killed more than two-dozen people at the church, including the pastor's 14-year-old daughter. Meeting with reporters after the service, Cornyn said he hopes to propose changes in firearm background checks and the process of obtaining firearms. He also said government needs to be accountable. Cornyn said when people don't do the little things, there are big consequences, and that's what happened in Sutherland Springs.
