San Antonio Seeing a Spike in Gas Prices

Don't look now, but San Antonio gas prices are going up--a lot.

News Radio 1200 WOAI reports we're paying $2.21 for a gallon of regular, up a dime just in the past week,

But San Antonio still has the lowest gas price in the state.. The statewide price today is $2.30, and nationally, it is $2.56.

The numbers are from the latest gas price survey by AAA Texas.

A number of factors are pushing gas prices higher.. Crude oil prices are on the rise, after Saudi Arabia indicated it plans to maintain lower production to bring up global prices.

Demand is starting to rise as the holidays approach, and gasoline inventories are falling.

Today's price increase ends ends seven weeks of pump price drops following Hurricane Harvey and the 'gas panic' that followed, when prices in San Antonio shot up to more than $2.60.
