Twitter users officially have double the characters to share their thoughts with other users. The social media company announced today it would increase its famous 140 character limit to 280 characters for every user, including President Trump. Earlier this year, Twitter tested the new limit by allowing a select group of users to compose longer tweets. The company said in a blog post that the higher limit made users more likely to tweet and to experience engagement from other users. The original 140 character limit, established in 2007, was intended to keep tweets within the length of standard text messages.
