More details emerge about man behind church shootings

The man behind the deadly shooting at a Texas church at one point escaped a mental health hospital.  An El Paso, Texas Police report obtained by several news outlets shows Devin Kelley was picked up by officers at a bus terminal after escaping from a behavioral center in New Mexico more than five years ago.  He escaped months after attacking his wife and child at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, located  about 100 miles north of El Paso.  Police arrested him at a Greyhound bus station and its believed they returned him to the mental facility.  

A witness told officers Kelley was a danger to himself and that he had been caught sneaking firearms onto Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.  The police report shows Kelley was trying to carry out death threats against his military superiors.  Kelley was courtmartialed and sentenced in November of 2012 for attacking his family.  Kelley is believed to have shot and killed 26 people at the church in Sutherland Springs, Texas on Sunday.
