New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says eight people are dead in an act of terror in Lower Manhattan, while more than a dozen are injured. de Blasio called it an especially cowardly act, and urged New Yorkers to be vigilant on Halloween night and the days to come. De Blasio emphasized that the investigation into the attack is underway.
NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill says the suspect in today's bloody attack in Lower Manhattan is being treated after being shot in the abdomen by police. O'Neill said the suspect brandished two pistols after running over several people in a truck on a bike path. He said the suspect's pistols turned out to be a paintball gun and a pellet gun. He said the suspect's identification is being withheld due to the continuing investigation.
