Proposal: $4 Million to Advertise San Antonio Airport

San Antonio International Airport is about to get a little buzz.

News Radio 1200 WOAI reports City Council this week will hand out a $4 million, four year contract to an advertising consortium to provide advertising and marketing services fo the Airport System.

Two local firms, Aguillon & Associates and KGB Texas, make up 57% of the PAVLOV Group, which is in line for the contract.

The advertising will be geared to convincing travelers that SAT is the best place to use for travel, especially to Mexico.  San Antonio has been stung lately by a growing number of passengers who prefer to drive to Austin or Houston to get on planes, due to a wider range of flights, and, sometimes, cheaper flights.

The contract will also cover advertising to benefit the concessionaires at the Airport, to increase their profits, which also increases revenue to the Airport System.

It will also promote travel to San Antonio in destinations were there are non stop flights to the city, especially newly established non stop flights.

The campaign will include billboards, especially at malls most likely to be frequented by visitors, billboards along the highways leading into San Antonio, as well as on line, video, broadcast, and signage inside the airport.
