Some thirty fire units were scrambled today to fight a fire in the coal storage tower of the Capital Cement plant on Nacogdoches Road near Wurzbach Parkway, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Nobody was hurt and nobody had to be evacuated, but fire crews had to come up with creative ways to pour water onto the coal to make sure it was all extinguished.
At one point, thick black smoke from the burning coal could be seen pouring out of the facility, but it was knocked down by the first companies.
