A woman is clinging to life at University Hospital after she was hit head on by a wrong way driver on the city's north side early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say a man somehow got onto the westbound lanes of Loop 1604 while he was traveling eastbound.
He managed to get from Blanco Road all the way to Bulverde Road, when he slammed head into the car driving by a woman who was driving in her proper lane.
It took firefighters 35 minutes to cut her out of the wreckage of her mangled car. They eventually had to remove the entire roof of the vehicle to get her out.
An Airlife Helicopter was waiting to rush her to the
hosptial.The wrong way driver is also hospitalized and will be tested for potential DWI.
