Stolen police equipment, including a gun belt and police radios, were found inside a pickup that crashed today while being pursued by Bexar County Sheriff's Deputies on the far nortbwest side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Sheriff Javier Salazar says they received a report of a 'violent disturbance' at a home just west of Sea World.
"When they were arriving, this vehicle was seen leaving the location with two people in it," Salazar said. "The deputies weren't sure what they had, they believed that this vehicle may have been involved in the earlier disturbance, possibly an assault."
The chase wound down West Military until the driver hit a stop sign and a wheel fell off.Salazar says he was under the influence of some sort of narcotic. The woman in the truck suffered significant injuries in the crash, and Salazar says it hasn't been determined if she was there voluntarily, or if she was involved in the disturbance that prompted the chase.
Salazar says it is believed the police equipment was 'stolen from a neighboring agency.'
