A truck driver was killed this morning in an accident in the UPS main shipping center off Gibbs Sprawl Road on the city's northeast side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the trucker was attempting to hook a double trailer rig onto his cab, and he stepped out of the tractor to apply the airbrakes on the back trailer.
But he had not secured the emergency brake, and the rig began to roll through the parking lot.
The trucker tried to run back into the cab to set the brake, but he was run over by one of the wheels of the trailer and killed.
Police are handling it as an accidental death.
