A two alarm fire caused moderate damage to a motel on the city's northeast side early Sunday, but no injuries were reported, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Firefighters were called to the Studio 6 Motel in the 3600 block on I-35 North about 12:30 this morning for a report of a fire in the attic.
As the first units arrived on the scene and began evacuating guests, a second alarm was sounded, calling in firefighters from a second district.
The flames spread to upper story rooms as firefighters struggled to stop the fire from spreading.
At one point, 23 fire units were on the scene.. Crews finally extinguished the fire and let guests and long term residents back into their rooms about 2:30 AM.
The cause of the fire is not known, but it is not believed to be suspicious.
