Universal City police say a homeowner was killed today when he got into a gunbattle with a burglar inside his home, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the man heard an intruder in his home on Ulysses Street and he grabbed a handgun and went to investigate.
When he saw the burglar in his home, the man opened fire, but police say the burglar returned fire.
The 51 year old homeowner died at the hospital of wounds suffered in the shooting.
The burglar, 18, who has not been identified, was also shot, but will survive.
He is expected to face a capital murder charge.
