Hurricane Nate is strengthening as it takes aim at the central Gulf Coast. The hurricane, with sustained winds of 90-miles-an-hour is also bringing heavy rain and powerful storm surges to parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida. The National Hurricane Center says Nate is expected to make landfall tonight between New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama as a Category 2 storm. Storm surges of up to nine feet are expected in coastal areas of southeastern Mississippi. Millions of residents in Alabama are also being told to prepare for power outages and likely flooding.
