Astros win Game 1

Altuve

Jose Altuve delivered three solo homers, Red Sox ace Chris Sale was ripped for seven runs in five-plus innings and the Astros rolled to an 8-2 win in Game 1 of their AL Division Series opener. While Salehad a dreadful postseason debut as he was tagged for nine hits, including six for extra bases, Houston's Justin Verlander was removed after surrendering two runs in six innings in his 17th playoff start. Altuve went deep twice off Sale before going yard again in the seventh inning. More bad news for Boston - designated hitter Eduardo Nunez had to be carried off the field with a right knee injury in the first inning when he pulled up lame after hitting a ground ball to third.
