All Five Living Former Presidents to Attend A&M Hurricane Relief Concert

Texas continues to outdo itself in holding grand music events to raise money for hurricane victims, and one set for later this month at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M University in College Station just might out do them all, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Spokesman Jim McGrath says all five living former Presidents, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, have made plans to attend 'Deep from the Heart, One America' concert on October 21st at the Bush Center.

McGrath says there will be plenty of top rank entertainers there as well.

"We've got a very strong representation from the Lone Star State, including Robert Earl Keen and Lyle Lovett and the Gatlin Brothers," he said.  "We have the Bush's old friends Alabama, and we have a legendary gospel singer, Yolanda Adams.

McGrath says the proceeds from the concert will to a hurricane relief in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

And, despite the presence of five former presidents, McGrath promises that politics will be left at home.

"We will have a strong line up of music acts, so it will be light on speeches and heavy on fantastic entertainment, all for a good cause."

It is unusual to have five former Presidents still living at one time, let alone to have all five at an event.  Two of the people at the event, Jimmy Carter, 93, and George H.W. Bush, 93, are both among the four longest lived Presidents in U.S. history.
