FBI Seeking 'Camry Cruisin' Bandit'

The FBI today asked for the public's help in identifying a man who has been regularly sticking up San Antonio banks at about the rate of one every six months, for the past four years, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

FBI Special Agent Michelle Lee says the Anglo or possibly Hispanic man, six feet tall and 215-245 pounds, has been dubbed the 'Camry Cruisin' Bandit' because he always makes his getaway in a Toyota Camry.  He has been seen using both a light green and a silver Camry.

"Investigators believe that, based upon witness reports, investigators believe he has become both more competent and more aggressive," she said.

The man began his crime spree in November of 2013.  The next robbery happened in April of 20-14, and then in September of 2014 and so forth.

Special Agent Lee says that is not that unusual for bank robbers.

"A significant number of bank robbers have addiction issues, and many of them will go out and rob a bank so they can go out and get money to purchase their drugs," she said.

She says agents also think there may be something significant about the fact that Camry Cruisin' has knocked off a bank in November of each year.

"It could also be a time when this individual is nearing the holidays, and this may be an effort to get money for Christmas and the holidays."

The FBI is issuing a $5,000 reward and the Texas Bankers Foundation is also offering a $5,000 reward.

Lee says with the bandit becoming more brazen, it is critical that somebody who cares about the man, either a wife or girlfriend or parent, turn him in before he gets himself killed robbing another bank.
