For the last several months, H-E-B has been inviting customers to swipe a coupon at checkout to donate $1, $3, or $5 to the Help End Hunger Campaign, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Today, all that swiping paid off, as the grocery store chain donated nearly three quarters of a million dollars, enough to pay for more than 3.3 million meals, to Texas food banks.
The money was donated to the San Antonio Food Bank, which will distribute it to food banks statewide. It's the 35th annual Feeding Texas campaign, which ran in all H-E-B stores across the state.
