An upcoming television miniseries called Waco, which revisits the Branch Davidian siege, is not sitting well with people from the city, who had no idea it was even being made, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

"The problem is the name, 'Waco,' is tied to it when it did not happen within the city limits," Waco spokesman Larry Holze tells Newsradio 1200 WOAI.

The first trailer for Waco hit the internet this week, even though it will not air until January.  It stars Taylor Kitsch, who found fame with the show Friday Night Lights, as David Koresh.

Like everything else been done before, the producer say it will the true story of the 1993 standoff between federal agents and the spiritual sect, which ended in a deadly shootout and fire.

“You’ve looked to me to be your leader, to guide you on this journey. But I’m no leader, I’m a follower, just like you,” Kitsch says over dramatic music, showing a desolate landscape that looks closer to the plains of West Texas than the hilly ranches of real life.

But Waco is ready to move on.

"With Chip and Joanna Gaines, great things are going on in Waco," Holze explains. The Gaines are the stars of the super-popular TV series, Fixer Upper, which is set in Waco.  The pair fix up run down homes, and have drawn an international following with their Magnolia Farms brand.

"It used to be, whenever you said you were from Waco, people asked if you knew David Koresh," Holze says.  "Now, people ask if you know Chip and Joanna.
