San Antonio Gas Prices Continue Slow Fall

Gas prices are falling, but not nearly as fast as they rose during Hurricane Harvey and the 'gas panic' that following the hurricane, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

"In San Antonio it's $2.42 a gallon for unleaded, and that's down four cents from last week," Daniel Armbruster of AAA Texas said.

But he says we can remember the good old days of September of 2016, when we were paying $1.91.

"If you look at week to week, all markets in Texas are down, but if you look at last year's numbers, all of them are up significantly," he said.

Armbruster says ten Gulf Coast refineries are still operating at reduced capacity due to Harvey damage, and the Colonial Pipeline, which takes refined products out of many of the refineries, also remains at limited capacity.

“Gas prices are getting cheaper by the day,” Armbruster said. “Pump prices may not be dropping as fast as motorists would like, but with the switchover to winter-blend gasoline, consumer demand beginning to slow and Gulf Coast refineries getting closer to normal operations, consumers can expect gas prices to continue to be less expensive through October.”
