Police: Drug Suspect Rams Patrol Car

Being the object of a stake out by police narcotics detectives is pretty bad, but ramming your car into the police cruiser will only make things worse, as a man learned the hard way on the west side overnight.

Police narcotics officers were staking out a home at San Anita and Leal on the city's west side overnight when they tried to pull over a man for questioning.

Instead of stopping, police say he rammed his car into the passenger side of the police vehicle.  He then tried to speed away, but got about thirty feet before slamming into a telephone pole.

Things got worse from there.  When officers arrested him, they found drugs and a rifle in the car.

The suspect will face felony aggravated assault on a police officer charges, as well as narcotics and weapons charges.

A narcotics officer suffered minor injuries and is hospitalized.
