A man and a woman were arrested early Friday in connection with a bizarre theft from a mobile home on Judson Road on the northeast side on Thursday, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
“They went into the residence and removed several items from the location to include a box that contained the remains of the victim’s husband,” SAPD Detective Roger Cavazos said.
Investigators say they don’t know whether the 54 year old man and 34 year old woman knew that the box contained human remains, or whether they just scooped it up as part of their ransacking of the mobile home. The ashes and the box have been recovered.
“Officers located them on the south part of town off of Southcross, made a traffic stop, and were able to detain them,” Cavazos said.
The two are charged with burglary of a habitation.
