NFL Upholds Elliott's Six-Game Suspension

Ezekiel Elliott

The NFL is upholding the six-game  suspension against Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.   Multiple reports say, because of the timing of the ruling, Elliott will still be allowed to play in Sunday night's season opener against the New  York Giants at AT&T Stadium.  Elliott was suspended six games for  violating the league's personal-conduct policy.  That followed a  13-month investigation into domestic violence charges by his former  girlfriend.  Elliott was never arrested or charged.  He appealed the  suspension, with a three-day hearing that concluded last week.

The Players' Association filed a  petition in U.S. District Court last week looking to have any suspension  against Elliott vacated.  The NFL responded this week by filing a  motion to dismiss that petition since the arbitrator had not yet issued  his ruling on the appeal.  Elliott led the league last season as a  rookie, rushing for 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns as Dallas won the NFC  East at 13-and-3.
