Cruz, Cornyn: Federal Government Will Help Texas After Harvey

Houston flood

Top Texas Republicans are promising the federal government will make sure the Gulf Coast is taken care of  following Hurricane Harvey.  Senator John Cornyn told  reporters he talked to Governor Greg Abbott on assistance after the  storm ravaged the region.  Senator Ted Cruz praised Houston Mayor  Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett for the leadership  they showed during Harvey's devastation.  Cruz also promised the state  would come back stronger than ever, saying there's going to be "very  significant federal relief" coming to Texas.  Both Cornyn and Cruz swore  the Texas delegation was united in making sure relief was coming.   House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy says the House will vote on the  first relief package tomorrow.
