Trump said he signed a Disaster Proclamation for Texas at the request of Governor Greg Abbott yesterday. The proclamation provides a wide range of federal assistance to the state.
More than 1,300 members of the Texas Military Department's Army National Guard, Air National Guard and Texas State Guard have ben activated. More than 2000 Guardsmen are expected to be in response mode over the next 24-48 hours.
Governor Greg Abbott told reporters today there are no confirmed or unconfirmed reports of fatalities after Harvey hit the state. The governor did note he's working with local officials on determining if anyone was killed. Harvey was a Category Four hurricane when it hit the Texas Gulf Coast, but is now a Tropical Storm.
