The San Antonio Spurs today released their new Nike Association Ediation and Icon Edition jerseys that they team will wear during the upcoming season, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
In the first season of its new partnership with the NBA, Nike engineered four primary jerseys for each franchise, using over two-and-a-half decades of research and development with basketball players at all levels to create top performance gear that focuses on the weight, fit and construction of the uniforms. The Alpha Yarns-and-recycled polyester jerseys each contain materials from approximately 20 recycled PET bottles and wick moisture 30 percent faster than current league uniforms, while improved designs around the armhole, neck and side seams allow for ease of player movement. It's the first time a corporate logo has appeared on an NBA uniform.
The new uniforms will make their first appearance in the Spurs preseason game against Sacramento on October 2nd...and will make their first home appearance in a pre season game against the Kings October 6th. The Icon Edition uniforms will be the away jersey and the Association Edition uniforms will be worn at home, replacing the traditional home and away jerseys.
Two additional uniforms representing the San Antonio community and the athletes will be revealed later.
The new jerseys will be available for sale at the Spurs Fan Shop at the AT&T Center starting September 29.
