Airport Reports Record Crowds in July

Those long lines at San Antonio International Airport aren't your imagination.  The Airport broke a one month record for traffic in July, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

A total of 834,000 people got onto or off of airplanes in July, up 7% over July of 2016 and the 12th consecutive month SAT has recorded growth.

The Airport credits several factors, including the addition of several non stop flights in the past year.

"We are very pleased with this growth and expect the trend to continue given our recent additions to non-stop air service from San Antonio," Airport Director Russ Handy said.

The strong economy is also a factor, as is an increase in local convention business. The new short term parking and car rental facility will open at the airport later this year, and 2018 is expected to be a banner year, with the city's Tricentennial celebration and the NCAA Men's Final Four headlining a year of activity.
