Two women were stabbed with a machete in a home just off Broadway across the street from Brackenridge Park this morning, and the suspect led police on a chase thorugh the near north side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
McManus says it was a wild chase.
There were some close calls, there were actually a couple of minor accidents during the chase,"McManus said. "Officers followed policy and they did a great job staying with this guy, obviously a very dangerous individual."
McManus says the women who were stabbed are in critical condition with life threatening injuries. He says one in in her thirties and the other in her fifties, and the younger woman was in a 'dating relationship' with the suspect.
The chase began at the home where the cuttings happened, in the 200 block of Army.
The suspect had a tire blow out and wrecked his car, allowing police to arrest him.
McManus says he will face aggravated assault and other charges.
"This guy had to be caught," he said.
