USAA Employees Going Through Basic Training Today

It's drop and give me twenty this morning for USAA employees, who were up at Zero Dark Thirty for a morning of basic training, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The San Antonio financial services giant mainly serves members of the military, and USAA says it wants its employees who have never served to get a taste of what military life is like.

Army Sgt First Class Brian Parks, who is a basic training instructor, says its no day at the beach.

"I don't think I would use the term 'fun'," Sgt. Parks said.  "I would say it is very stressful, and I think it exhilarating when it is all said and done."

Sgt. Parks says in addition to giving accountants, executives and insurance salesmen a taste of what their clients have gone through. it is also a great way to get people out of their comfort zone, and learn better how to work as a team.

"When you're in the middle of it, if you were to ask 'are you having fun?' there's no way they would respond, 'yeah, I'm having a blast'," Sgt. Parks joked.  "They are being taken to their limits."

This is the second year that USAA has added summer morning basic training to their list of employee activities.
