Kyrie Irving asked the Cavaliers to trade him during a meeting with team owner Dan Gilbert last week, according to an ESPN report and confirmed by Cleveland.com. The four-time All-Star who was drafted first overall by Cleveland in 2011 reportedly has stated a desire to be a top scoring option and does not want to play with LeBron James after being teammates with the superstar for three seasons. The news is the latest in what has been a tumultuous off season for the Cavs. Since losing the NBA Finals in five games to the Warriors, Cleveland parted ways with general manager David Griffin after being unable to reach a contract extension and was unable to land Paul George or Jimmy Butler in trades.
