Former Democratic Congressman Gallego Considering Running Again

Former San Antonio Congressman Pete Gallego may want a return trip to Washington.

The West Texas Democrat was defeated for re-election to the 23rd District, which stretches from west Bexar County all the way to El Paso, by Republican Will Hurd back in 2014, and he lost to Hurd again last year.

But Gallego said today he has launched an 'exploratory committee' about running for the office again.

"After the 2016 election, I did not expect to consider another candidacy," Gallego said.  "I honestly that that part of my life was over and I could focus on my family and my law practice.  However, after seeing just a few months of Dona;d Trump as President, I can't in good conscience stay on the sidelines."

Gallego served in the Texas Legislature for twenty years before being elected to Congress in the 23rd District, which, unlike most Congressional districts, frequently switches from Democrat to Republican.
