The closing of the local Alfred Angelo Bridal Signature stores as the firm filed for bankruptcy has caused the stress of wedding day to ramp up to an eleven for local brides, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Some were even calling 9-1-1 because their bridal gowns and bridesmaid's dresses are inside the stores.Local wedding planner Tracy French of the French Connection Events, says this is a real problem, because brides have so much planning to do ahead of wedding day.
"If their dresses are held up on hold inside the store, and the store isn't releasing them because they filed for bankruptcy and this is part of their inventory, brides could be in a real big pinch," she said.
French says salons and independent seamstresses all around the area are getting frantic calls from brides trying to come up with alternatives.
"It is kind of taking a leap of faith that nothing like this would ever happen," French said. "This sure came quick. Brides need to call salons real quick, and see if they can get some dresses off the rack."
