Comal County Declares Burn Ban

Here we go...Comal County Commissioners today instituted a burn ban, effective Friday morning, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

It's the first burn ban of the season in this region, and comes as continued hot, dry conditions lead to less moisture in the soil.

Comal County Commissioners use a system called the Keetch-Byram Index to determine when to declare a burn ban, and that index has reached the trigger level.

That means no open flames, including campfires, trash burning, or torches.Barbecues are okay if they are enclosed in a container with a lid and are off the ground.
