San Antonio Police Department is streamlining its application process.
A new online application allows prospective cadets to avoid completing by hand the preliminary paperwork, says Officer Yvonne Mauricio, an SAPD recruiter.
Mauricio says the computerized application's "save for later" feature lets applicants complete the sections between work, school an family time, as well as review and update information multiple times while awaiting reference letters, transcripts and confirming previous employment and education specifics.
Once SAPD receives the electronic document, Mauricio says, an applicant can expect a phone call from a screening detective who will offer feedback, request additional documentation, or further instructions. Successful applicants are then scheduled for in-person interviews and testing.
The online application saves screening time by the department, and minimizes the number of applicant visits, Mauricio says
.Applicants appointed to a cadet class qualify for a $5,000 signing bonus, she says.
