Work on the new border wall with Mexico is expected to begin in September. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said today it plans to select up to eight firms in the next few weeks to build prototypes for the wall in San Diego. Congress has approved 20-million dollars for the initial phase of the controversial project. President Trump's 2018 budget includes one-point-six billion dollars for actual construction of the barrier along the southwestern border. More than 200 companies submitted bids to work on the wall.
