A woman was rescued from her burning home early today by a police officer who arrived before firefighters, dashed into the house, and pulled her to safety, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Firefighters were called about 11PM to a fire in the 500 block of Meadowlane, which is just north of Austin Highway, and when they arrived they found the officer pulling the woman out of the burning home.
EMS worked on the woman for nearly a half hour, performing CPR, until they had her stabilized to the point where she could be rushed to SAMMC, where she remains in critical condition.
The police officer was not hurt.Arson investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire, which caused major damage to the house.
