Roller Coaster Lovers From Around the World Descend on San Antonio

There will be lots of ups and downs this week as 450 members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts of America holds their annual conference in San Antonio, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

ACE spokesman Tim Baldwin tells News Radio 1200 WOAI this is the first time the group has held its international gathering in San Antonio since 1999, and they're looking forward to checking out the brand new state of the art attractions at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, ZDT in Seguin, and Sea World San Antonio.

"Its just like sports fans, you have coaster fans, who plan their vacations around coaster," he said.  "Its just fun."

He says all three area coaster parks are showing off brand new rides, including the new Rescue Coaster that premiered at Sea World just last week, and the coaster enthusiasts are anxious to check them out.

He says the coaster lovers are looking for variety, thrills, new types of rides, and are anxious to see the amazing things Six Flags Fiesta Texas has done with virtual reality.

But he says most people who love roller coasters love one thing about them.

"We call it 'air time'," he said.  "Its coaster lingon for negative 'g's.'  And if a coaster has a lot of that, we love that."
