South Texas veterans Thursday evening got an update on the state of their health care and related benefits.
A two-hour town hall-style presentation by Veterans Administration officials at the Audie Murphy Hospital covered recent and pending medical care system improvements, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Audie Murphy Hospital health care administrator Robert Walton says the most common concern remains timely access to medical treatment.
Walton says his agency is using technology to better connect with younger, media-savvy veterans, as well as adding services that address their needs -from additional mental health programs to medical care specific to the needs of the growing number of female veterans.
The South Texas Veterans Health Care System serves nearly 90,000 patients in an area covering more than 60 counties.
