A 35 year old former cafeteria worker at the Central Texas Detention Facility, a privately run prison for federal parole violators located at the former Bexar County Jail downtown, is going to prison as an inmate for having a sexual affair with a prisoner, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Barbara Jean Goodwin pleaded guilty to one count of Sexual Abuse of a Ward.Prosecutors say she carried on a six month affair with an inmate at the Facility last year, starting in February and ending only when the affair became public last August.
While this may sound like a segment of 'Orange is the New Black,' engaging in sexual activity with a person under your control or supervision, regardless of who initiates the relationship and whether it was consensual, is a federal felony.
Goodwin was sentenced to five months in prison and then five months of home confinement. She also must register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
