A 31 year old man is in custody after stealing a San Antonio Police car, and leading officers on a chase across the city, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police got a call for a suspicious person at Broadway and Lorenz, just north of Alamo Heights, about 3AM.

When officers got out of their police cruiser to check, the man jumped in and took off.

He led officers through Alamo Heights to downtown, then back up to Lincoln Heights, to Hildebrand, to I-10 and all the way to the Dominion on the far northwest side.

The man then doubled back toward the city, and offices deployed tire shredding spikes in the road, which did the trick.

The man lost control of the stolen police car at I-10 and Huebner, spun out and slammed into the center median.

He tried to run, but was quickly captured in the parking lot of a strip center.

He will face multiple charges, including auto theft.  Police say he also had a felony warrant out for his arrest.
