The President of Carroll College in Montana and a former top administrator at St. Edwards College in Austin was confirmed today as the next President of the University of the Incarnate Word, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Dr. Thomas Evans' appointment was confirmed by the Board of Trustees and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
Evans holds both a Master of Arts in Asian studies and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned a Bachelor of Science in language arts from the School of Languages and Linguistics at Georgetown University
.Dr. Evans will succeed Lou Agnese as the President of UIW. Agnese ran the University, building it up from a minor college to one of the fastest growing Catholic universities in the country, but was canned last fall after making some inappropriate comments during a welcome luncheon for new students.
