What Passed, What Didn't, in Session of Legislature that Ended Monday

Here's a look at the final status of key bills before the Texas Legislature in the session that ended yesterday:

PASSED:Banning Sanctuary Cities, signed by Gov. Abbott

Setting up statewide regulations covering Uber, Lyft, and other Transportation Network Companies, signed by Gov. Abbott

Approving reorganization of Child Protective Services and foster care, adding 1400 new case workers, smoothing kinship adoption.

Establishing a statewide law banning texting while driving, Abbott uncertain about signing the bill.

David's Law, which allows school districts to crack down on cyber bullying.

Banning state funding for wind power farms within 25 miles of military aviation facilities

.Providing state funding to equip police officers with bulletproof vests.

Limiting damages from lawsuits filed over hailstorm damage, cracking down on 'ambulance chasing' lawyers who try to drum up hail damage claims

Providing property tax release for the surviving spouse of a police officer or firefighter killed in the line of duty.

Benefitting veterans in need of health, and mental health services

Approved Texas' participation in an Article V 'Convention of States' to come up with new Amendments to the U.S. Constitution

Prohibiting local governments from subpoenaing for sermons and other church material.

Providing financial incentives for cities, state agencies, counties, universities and school districts to move to alternative fuel vehicles to clean the air.

Allowing schools to be rated on a grading scale of A-F to make it easier for parents to determine the quality of their child's school.

Requiring high school students to take a course on how to interact with police officers.

Watered down version of 'Sandra Bland Act,' which pushes for mental health reforms at county jails, but does not include mandatory 'de-escalation training' for police, and does not ban 'pretense' traffic stops.

Lower the cost of getting and keeping a handgun license, signed by Gov. Abbott

Rewrite Voter ID law in hopes of winning the approval of the federal courts.

End jail time for people who can't pay traffic tickets because they are too poor.

Blocking discriminatory trade practices against Israel

Bill to present schools from denying hot lunch to students whose lunch money has not been paid (lunch shaming)

Requiring aborted fetuses to be buried or cremated, restricting certain types of abortions.

'Religious freedom laws' allowing certain professions not to have to deal with same sex couples' if same sex marriage violates their religious beliefs.

DID NOT PASS:

Medical marijuana use (or any expansion of marijuana laws)

Bill to block San Antonio from annexing property without the consent of the residents to be annexed.

Approval of funding plan being considered to build toll lanes on Loop 1604, I-35

Prohibiting the state from collecting the union dues of state employees

Repealing the 'Driver Responsibility Program'

'Constitutional Carry' fo firearms

Ending a law requiring that 15% of state college tuition go to student financial assistance.

Freezing tuition at public colleges.

Preventing 'wrongful birth' lawsuits

Requiring state contractors to use E-Verify to confirm legal status of employees

Banning insurance policies from covering aboritons.

Fanchise tax reduction.

Bill to restrict transgender restroom use

Measure that would require citizens to vote before cities and counties could raise their budgets above a certain amount
