New Braunfels Repeat Felon Sentenced to Forty Years for Beating Girlfriend

Tougher Sentencing Blamed For Crowded Prisons

A New Braunfels security alarm repairman who ignored restraining orders to brutally beat his girlfriend for three years was sentenced today to forty years in prison, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Jason McBride was sentenced for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and he also received sentences for Assault Family Violance, Repeated Violation of Bond Conditions and Evading Arrest.

Comal County District Attorney Jennifer Tharp says McBride, who befriended the victim while he was repairing her security system and entered into a romantic relationship with her, chocked the victim, assaulted her with a deadly weapon, and committed several other acts of violence, despite a restraining order and other court orders.

McBride is a life long felon, who has served time for Burglary of a Building, Evading Arrest, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, as well as for Transporting Illegal Immigrants

."This community is safer with McBride behind bars," Tharp said.
