UPDATE: 'Disturbed' Man in Custody After Standoff With Police at Northeast Side Home

A man armed with a shotgun who repeatedly threatened to shoot police has been taken into custody after holding police at by inside a northeast side home all morning, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say SWAT officers have surrounded the home at Glacier Sun and Mystic Sunrise, and traffic in the area has been blocked.

They say officers got a call for gunfire about midnight, and when they arrived their found the man firing up into the air.

When police arrived the man ran inside and barricaded himself in the house, occasionally coming outside to fire shots into the air.

Police negotiators have been in contact off and on with the man, who they describe as 'disturbed.'

Officers say the man threatened to shoot officers with his shotgun, which he was carrying as he paces around the house.So far nobody has been injured.  

It is not believed that anybody else was inside the home at the time.

No word on what charges the man will face.
