A teenaged girl is in critical condition after she was shot in the chest outside a car overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the 16 year old victim was with several other 16 year olds who had jammed into a car and driven to an alley behind Burke Elementary School in the 7400 block of Weybridge, so the teens could 'do a little smoking.'
The school is in Braun Station near Shaenfield and Loop 1604 on the far northwest side.
Police say an argument erupted in the car and a teenaged boy pulled a gun and ordered two of the girls to get out of the car.
As they were walking down the alley, the boy shot the victim in the chest. He tried to shoot the other girl, but his gun jammed.
Police say a lot of this doesn't add up and they are still investigating. No suspects are in custody.
