A man was stabbed to death early today in an area just north of downtown which is known as a hang-out spot for the homeless, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police were called to the 700 block of North Main Street, just north of I-35, about 12:30 this morning, and when they arrived they discovered a man with blood gushing out of his chest from a stab wound.
Paramedics tried to save the man's life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police found a shirtless man with blood all over his chest not far from the murder scene.He was arrested and taken to University Hospital for treatment of several wounds.
Police don't know if he is the suspect, or whether he may be another victim, but he will remain in custody while detectives sort it out.
