Train tracks may not look like a paved city street during the day, but at night its a different story, as a driver learned the hard way overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say a man turned into the Union Pacific tracks on Trinity Street near the old stockyards, thinking it was a road.
The man found out soon that it wasn't, as his car got stuck on the tracks with a freight train bearing down on it, and his nine year old son in the back seat.
The man managed to get the boy out of the car, just in time, before the train demolished his car.
Nobody was hurt, but, to add insult to injury, Railroad Police ticketed the driver, for 'impeding train traffic.'
