Mayor Ivy Taylor racked up a strong 42% of the vote against 13 challenges in Saturday's race for Mayor, but was unable to avoid a June runoff against Councilman Ron Nirenberg, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Nirenberg got 37% of the vote.
The third major candidate, Bexar County Democratic Chairman Manuel Medina was in third place with 15%.
Turnout across San Antonio was 11%
All six of the San Antonio City bond proposals, the $850 million package, the largest bond ever floated by any governmental agency in Bexar County, was approved easily.

In District 8 on the northwest side, the seat Nirenberg vacated to run for mayor, Cynthia Brehm and Manny Pelaez will face off in June.
In District 9, the Council seat being vacated by Joe Krier, Marco Barros will face John Courage.
And in District 10, being vacated by Mike Gallagher, it will be Clayton Perry and Ezra Johnson in the runoff.
There will also be runoffs in District 1 in the central city, with incumbent Roberto Trevino facing Michael Montano, and in east side District 2, with incumbent Alan Warrick against William Shaw.
District 3 Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran, District Four Councilman Rey Saldana, and District Five Councilwoman Shirley Gonzalez were easily reelected.
