For the second time in a week, a San Antonio Police Officer has shot and killed a man brandishing a knife, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police Chief William McManus says Park Police officers were called to the 200 block of North Zarzamora for a report of a man and a woman arguing.
When the man saw the officer, he turned a knife he had been pointing at the woman toward the officer.
McManus says the officer deployed his taser, but the man kept advancing on him with the knife.
The Park Police officer fired one shot, and the man went down. He was rushed to University Hospital where he died.
McManus said the officer attempted unsuccessfully to avoid using deadly force.
Park Police Officers are San Antonio Police Officers who are specially trained for duty in the city parks.
Last Saturday, an officer shot and wounded a man who attacked him with a knife as he tried to break up a domestic dispute inside a north side home.
