SAPD Officer Shoots Man

A rookie San Antonio Police officer shot a man several times while he and his partner were trying to break up a domestic disturbance at a home on the near north side early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say the officers answered a call in the 400 block of West Magnolia, which is near San Pedro and Hildebrand, about 2:30 this morning.

When they entered the home, they found a man in his fifties armed with a knife.

Officers told the man to drop the knife.. At that point, one officer deployed his taser and zapped the man.

The other officer pulled his Glock service weapon and shot the knife wielding man 'multiple times.'

The suspect was rushed to the hospital in very critical condition.

The officer who fired has only been in the force for four months.. He will be on desk duty until an investigation is complete.
